André Masson
The Surrealistic Figure
Surrealism alone features dream-like illusions and juxtapositions rendered in the form of an image featuring familiar objects in an unrealistic environment. Abstract surrealism, on the other hand, renders its illusions in an abstract form. It is this latter form of the Surrealist movement that André Masson cultivated in much of his art often times exploring violent and erotic themes. The human body and face are frequently chosen as the subject when it comes to the abstract surrealistic works of André Masson in this new show starting with an opening reception on July 11th from 6PM to 9PM.
